We're Still On The West Coast |

We're still on the west coast and Christmas is only days away. We recently played the Blazers and it was a tough game for us, but I won't get into that. I like to put tough loses behind me anyway.
I'm sure you guys have heard of LaMarcus Aldridge. Well... I've known LaMarcus since he was in the 9th grade. It's so funny to see him in the NBA and remember us still going at it back in the day, trying to win basketball games. We played each other in High School plenty of times and my team won on every occasion, but LaMarcus always played well. The funny thing about the whole situation is that his high school head coach (Robert Allen), was my coach in my 9th grade year. He always used to compare the two of us because we both had a lot of potential and we were both as tall as anyone in the Dallas area.
I know Coach Allen was watching the game we played against the Blazers the other day and I know he enjoyed it. Seeing two young guys, whom he played a vital role with, playing in the NBA against each other. It's great to see another guy from Dallas make it and live his dream.

Wednesday Before Our Game Against The Mavericks |
|
Friday, 14 December 2007 |
Wednesday before our game against the Mavericks, I started thinking about how long I've been watching a lot of guys in the NBA. As you all know, I'm from Dallas. I remember being in High School and cheering for the Mavericks because they were finally starting to win and everybody was loving it. They crazy thing about that is Dirk Nowitzki was leading the team then and he's still leading the team now. Right before the tip-off, I'm looking at this guy like, "I used to try to get tickets to the games or watch them on TV", and it's blowing my mind. Time really flies! When Dirk got drafted, I was in Middle School. When they started making the playoffs and winning a lot more, I was in High School. Now I'm playing against this guy and this team that I watched while I was getting serious about basketball.
I think about all of these players in the league that I watched while I was growing up. Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Jermaine O'neal, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter and many more were all drafted when I was in Middle School, some a little before that. Shaq was an All-Star when I was in the 2nd Grade! Now don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to make anyone feel old, but like I said before, It just blows my mind that I compete against these guys everyday.

I'm On The Bus Right Now Headed To Our Hotel |
|
Friday, 14 December 2007 |
|
I'm on the bus right now headed to our hotel, we just landed in Atlanta about 20 minutes ago. As we started driving through downtown I saw some of Georgia Tech's campus and started getting all these memories of my college life.
Even though I didn't stay long, that was probably some of the best times of my life. Jarrett Jack was my roommate and we got pretty close as the year went on. A lot of people don't know that. I remember us hanging around our dorm rooms with no money and no cars trying to find something to do beacause it wasn't much going on Tech's campus too often. If the football team was playing a road game that weekend, we had some thinking to do if we didn't want to be bored to death.
When basketball practice started I was excited, but I found out the difference between college basketball and high school. With individual workouts, weight lifting, practice and class on top of all that, I became exhausted. I used to go to study hall after practice and try to catch up on my English while I was I math tutoring. Most of the time I'd be sleep before I knew it. The only thing that would wake me were the people in the classroom laughing at me. Lol! Those were the times. Seriously though, if you're reading this and you're going to college soon, make sure you work on time management.
P.S. Go COWBOYS!!!!!!

X-Mas Shopping, Team Owner, and Much More! |

It's around that time of the year to start your Christmas shopping. Only if you're an early bird type of person. Me... I don't move as fast when it comes to shopping in advance so I'm being patient right now because I still have to make my list. I'll probably be finished when the 23rd of December rolls around, maybe even later. Some people would think that's crazy, but I give the best gifts and I'm never late so I'll keep doing the same thing I've been doing.
I don't know if you guys watched the video podcast we had at nDex for the gaming event I participated in, but I've been doing some thinking since then. We saw Final Boss, the team Gilbert Arenas sponsors, and they were pretty nice. I played against them in Halo and it's unreal how good they are. As you all know Gilbert Arenas is a great basketball player who is into gaming, but from the looks of it, Final Boss doesn't seem to have much competition in gaming right now. I talked to them at the event and they were telling me of other gaming conventions where they were in the finals. They very rarely told me of situations when they lost or even came close. I started thinking about that. I love gaming and I think I would like to find the best gamers out there to give Final Boss some competition, plus I think it would be cool to have my own professional gaming team. Anyway, be on the lookout for that in the next few months. |
