13 Hour Flight, Macao Like Vegas, McDonalds In China! (Blog) |
|
Monday, 28 July 2008 |
We just got to Macao after a 13 hour flight and an hour boat ride with plenty of waiting in between the two. The flight wasn't bad because I slept most of the way. If you ever fly to China, make sure your flight is as late as possible. Like me, you'll get some sleep and it will go by much faster.
The city of Macao is beautiful. They say it's like Las Vegas and to be honest it's kind of close, but there's nothing like Vegas. They have flashing lights and gambling (I don't like gambling anyway), but the building aren't as flamboyant and they really don't have a strip like Las Vegas Blvd.

Reflection On Las Vegas, CB4 And Dwight Go To The Circus? (Blog) |
|
Saturday, 26 July 2008 |
I'm sitting in my room right now looking out of my window down at the strip of Las Vegas. The lights are bright and flashing. I look down at this great view that I have and I start thinking about how this past week has gone. So far it's been great. Practice is very intense and the whole team is getting along pretty well. The Select Team that was brought in has done a great job too. When it's all said and done I think they're roll in getting us ready for the big show. Hopefully they will be recognized for the sacrifice that they made.
The time has actually been passing by pretty fast. Me, Dwight and my girl went to go see a Cirque du Soliel show last night and it was great! I don't know who thinks up the outline and costumes, but they are very creative. Some of the stuff they were doing was amazing! Handstands, flips and all of that acrobatic stuff looks like it took a lot of practice and strength. That's a circus on a whole other level compared to the ones I've seen under the tent. |

Viva Las Vegas, Packing For China, MGS is the hardest game! (Blog) |
|
Monday, 21 July 2008 |
I just got to Las Vegas today! Everybody gets in today for meetings and then we start practicing tomorrow. I'm hanging out with my brother right now. He just got done with summer league and he decided to stay an extra day so we could hang out. He didn't get the chance to play that much with the Raptors, so we're just going to have some fun.
Before I got here, I was having a lot of trouble packing because we're gonna be on the road for close to 5 weeks. They told us we could only bring two bags so I had to pack extremely neat. I did a good job though. Actually my girl did a good job because she packed for me. She's a neat freak and only one of my bags were overweight when I checked in at the airport so I've gotta give it to her. She did a better job than I could've done. I had to bring everything: shoes, clothes (and a lot of clothes), computer stuff, my xbox, medicine, toiletries.... Anything I could think of that I needed. |

I've been keeping up with all of the news stories and watching a little bit of TV since we came back from the National Team trip and I guess some things are coming to my realization. This stuff is huge! Every show on just about every channel is talking about us competing in the Olympics this summer. And the fact that we have LeBron and Kobe on the team has got the media having a field day with the different story possibilities. Seeing these stories made me think about some things.
Now... If you ask me who's the best team in the Olympics this summer, maybe I'm being biased, but I'm going to say the U.S.A. It doesn't matter who won the last competition or who's on the other teams, my answer is always going to be the same.
When I watch these t.v. shows now, it makes me laugh. Now don't get me wrong, I respect people in the media because I've worked for the media before, but when I watch some shows it's always the same every time. One guy loves something and the other guy hates it. It doesn't matter what the topic is.

New York City Getting Ready For Our Media Day With The U.S. National Team (Blog) |
|
Tuesday, 01 July 2008 |
It's 7am eastern time right now and I've been up since 6. I'm walking through a hotel lobby in New York City getting ready for our media day with the U.S. National Team. My day yesterday was so hectic I wanted to share it with everyone.
Yesterday we were in Las Vegas. We were scheduled to leave around noon, but as soon as we got on the plane they told us we'd be delayed two hours. To pass the time I played dominoes with Michael Redd and Teyshaun Prince so it wasn't that bad. 3 hours later we finally took off. We knew that when we landed we had to do an appearance as a team in Harlem because it was scheduled. While we were in the air the pilot came on the loud speaker again and told us we couldn't land on time. I had just woken up from a nap so I was bumed out to hear that we were delayed again. We made circles at 39,000 feet above Pennsylvania for about an hour and a half and then landed in New York around 11:15pm. |
